Hey, happy Halloween folks! How do you like the
dedicated RC racer Ive got featured here this month? This dude spent
all his money, including his grocery money, on RC stuff for the
Region IV race in November. No problem, well have plenty of time and food to fatten
him up on race day!
Our latest meeting was held on October 21 at the headquarters of the
famous A 2 Z pest control. All are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is November 18th
at 7 P.M. (to our confused folks, the meetings are always the 3rd Wednesday of the
month! Clever, huh) Those in attendance were Carl, Bonita, Matt, Scott and Danny.
New members this month include Tim Richardet, James Keith, Wayne and
Lawrence Markham and Jim Smith. Welcome folks and we hope you stick around for a long
time!
First on the agenda is good news!!!! Our very own Randy Bost,
formerly famous for beauty pageant wins in his youth, has set a club record on the oval
track. 53 laps in 5.05.65 on September 19, 1998!
Way to go Randy. All you oval drivers need to get back to the track
to see if you can match or beat him!
More good news! We found Sam Hand. Actually, he found us by showing
up at the track one Saturday! Anyway, he will be our race director for the Region IV
off-road championship race. Mr. Hand is very familiar with RC racing and will lead us
smoothly through our two days of racing. Carl Ross, the O.R.C.C.C. vice president, will be
the race official and will handle all racing and/or scoring disputes.
Speaking of the Region IV off-road race we have set up a team of
workers for the two day race event. Folks have volunteered in the past and we have now
placed you! Call if theres a problem, otherwise we will see you on race weekend.
Tech is going to be James Keith and Bill Lair. Radio impound will be Randy Bost and Mason
McCombs. These two areas will be housed in a huge trailer that Carls alter ego
"Bonnie" is arranging. When Carl becomes Bonnie, he can work miracles!
Radio impound will consist of a clothespin and a round sticker. Wow,
are we high society or what! Plan to keep up with your clothespin and have another sticker
on your radio!
IMPORTANT NEWS TO FOLLOW......TRAVIS SCRAMBLING DID ONE HECK OF
A JOB ON OUR NEW TRACK LAYOUT! With his plan and the hard work of our dedicated racers
and non-racers, we have a fabulous track! Compliments have been pouring in already, so we
expect to have a great race. Visit us between now and November 7th and 8th to see what we
have in store for you! IMPORTANT NEWS TO FOLLOW......TRAVIS SCRAMBLING DID ONE HECK OF

Now to the boring, whiny stuff. DO NOT ALTER THE RACETRACK! We have
club officers holding certain positions for a reason. Please respect this system. We
encourage any interested party to run (actually ask!) for these positions when they become
available. We try to set things up according to the majoritys wishes. The club is
made up of many people. The track will not always suit all drivers all the time.
Youll get your turn, so chill out!
Again, I encourage you to chase off or call the police to chase off,
any persons doing damage to the track. The property might belong to the county, but the
stuff on it is ours and should not be messed with. Ive heard stories of scooters,
mopeds and bikes all making their way around our oval and dirt tracks! Augh. No wonder
track maintenance is such a hard job.
New registration forms, AGAIN! It seems that a lot of folks like to
see who or how many racers are running in different classes, etc. To this end, we will now
have a separate sheet for each class of racing. You will sign up on this sheet completing
the same information as the little, itty-bitty, hard to keep up with registration forms
asked for! This should be much better and less stinking paper to keep up with!
Starting the next race, the times between the races will be decided
at the drivers meeting at the beginning of each race day. At that time we will know
how many races we need to run that day. If we have gobs, we will not be able to have much
time between races if we hope to finish before dark. On the other hand, if we just have a
few races, we can take longer between races and make things a little more laid back.
Thats our plan and we are sticking to it!!
To prepare for the Region IV race and get us in the correct habits
of racing, we will now line up the 2nd qualifier of the day according to how the racers
qualified in the first qualifier. It is scary that that sentence actually makes sense. It
does make sense, doesnt it!? Ill leave it at that!
Medallions will now be distributed according to the following
schedule. If there are 1 to 3 racers in a race, we will award the 1st place racer only. If
there are to 4 racers, we will award 1st and 2nd. If there are 5 or more, we will award
1st through 3rd. We used to make a big awards ceremony (it took like 10 minutes from start
to finish) after each race after the track was packed away. I think we should go back to
that plan as it makes new, rising star racers feel good about what they have accomplished.
Let me know how that sounds and we will work on a more structured "awards
presentation
Thats all I have. Thanks to all the club work horses!
Its a thankless job, but someones gotta do it! The things people will do for a
hot dog and a soda! NOVEMBER 7TH AND 8TH WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT AND WE ARE GONNA
HAVE FUN, FUN, FUN TIL THE COUNTY TAKES OUR PROPERTY AWAY (oops, I kinda "beach
boyed" out there for a second).
